Advertising

Too often, mittelstndische companies develop their English language advertising and communication strategy as an afterthought. The existing German texts are given to someone in-house or sent off to a run-of-the-mill translating agency and something in English comes back. Everyone is happy because the company is now supposed to be ready to compete on the international market.

But the result of such efforts -- a weak, word-for-word translation of a German advertising text -- is going to lead to more laughs than sales.

It's an old joke - the tangled language one sometimes finds in product instructions translated from the Japanese.

How good are the English promotional texts for your business?
  • Were they written by a native speaker?
  • Was the writer/translator a professional copywriter or someone whose real abilities and expertise are in another field?
  • Did the writer take the time to get to know your business and formulate a strong message that works in English?
It may well be that the texts which you hope are opening doors to international recognition are doing just the opposite - making your company appear provincial and unprofessional.

It's not simple to put together effective promotional literature in any language. In a second language, you need expert advice and a native-speaker ally on your team.

English Language Services puts the skills of an experienced and successful copywriter and translator at your disposal. So you can be sure your English language message hits the mark.
